The aggregate material comes direct from the quarry and usually includes quite a bit of clay. The aggregate/clay mixture coats the enclosure.

This continuous level sensor is being successfully used by a reinforced concrete pipe manufacturer to keep track of the sand level in two raw material storage silos. While this unit is not installed in the proper location (too close to the edge of the hatch; should be in the center of the hatch), the hatch height is equal to or less than the distance from the sensor to the edge of the hatch wall. Guided wave radar uses TDR (time domain reflectometry) technology and is the best continuous level technology available for measuring the level of powders and liquids, and many granular materials.

Hall-effect sensors can be used to monitor the dynamic travel of the weight & cable system within the vessel where a smart cable-based level sensor is being used to monitor material inventories by measuring the distance/level. In this case the Hall-effect devices monitor the position of a swing-arm assembly that indicates the travel of the weight & cable system. This allows the sensor to employ an electronic breaking mechanism and also to implement smart motor control to eliminate buried wieght conditions.
